The Southern District Motorsports Association (SDMA) has built a reputation as a premier hub for competitive hillclimb racing in Australia. Founded in 2000 to revive the abandoned Fairbairn Park track, the club overcame significant challenges, including track repairs and noise compliance, to host its first event within five months.

SDMA quickly grew into a powerhouse, hosting major events like the NSW Hill Climb Championship and the first hillclimb in the Australian Masters Games. A 2013 resurfacing project, funded with a $165,000 grant, transformed the track into a world-class facility, slashing lap times and enhancing safety.

From humble beginnings with manual systems and minimal infrastructure, SDMA now boasts modern facilities, live timing, and high-tech operations. Despite challenges like bushfires and COVID-19, the club remains a leader in grassroots motorsport, fostering fierce competition and a vibrant racing community.
